On August 8, 2008, Genta Sakane (serving as the representative), alongside Fujio Izumi from the National Institute for Materials Science and Koichi Momma from Tohoku University, was jointly honored with the 7th Award for Distinguished Contributions. The award was presented by the President of the Society for Discrete Variational X alpha during an award ceremony at the 5th International Workshop on DV-X alpha: The Advanced Related Experiments and Theories on Materials Science and X-Ray Spectroscopy, held at the University of Hyogo. The group was recognized for their project titled, "Development and promotion of the DV-Xα calculation support environment, the educational molecular orbital calculation system 'eduDV,' and the 3D visualization system 'VESTA'." This honor highlights their significant contributions to the growth of the association through the development and active promotion of a highly powerful graphical user interface (GUI) designed for the DV-X alpha computing environment.
