photochromism molybdenum complex disulfur ethylene dithiolate
Photochromism was found out for a dinuclear molybdenum complex [Mo2(μ-S2)(μ-S2C2Ph2)2(S2C2Ph2)2] (1), and a similar complex [Mo2(μ-S2)2(μ-S4)(S2C2Ph2)2] was found to show no photochromic property. On exposure to sunlight and halogen-lamp light, the color of soln. of 1 changes from red-purple to gray. In the dark the color returns to red-purple.
