Summary
C60, Noble gas ion
The differential cross-section for collisions of noble gas ions with carbon atoms in C60 was calculated by computer simulations so as to study the difference between the experiments and the screened Coulomb scattering calculations. The computer simulations were performed for 9.8 keV Xe, 4.2 keV Ar, 3.2 keV Ne and 4.0 keV He impinging on a C60 target, using the molecular dynamics code and the time-evolutional binary-collision-approximation code. Time-of-flight spectra of scattered atoms were compared with simulated spectra. It is found that the yield of recoil carbon atoms was suppressed due to the many-body interaction of an incident ion with carbon atoms sitting in C60.
