Summary
DEM (Discrete Element Method) simulations with SPA (Similar Particle Assembly) model were carried out for the process of surface modification of thermoset particles. For DEM simulation, a cohesive force between particles is needed. However, it is difficult to directly measure it. Accordingly, simulations were carried out by changing the cohesive force. Agglomerates size increased as the cohesive force between particles increased. It is demonstrated that the cohesive force between particles can be quantitatively obtained if the agglomerate size can be experimentally obtained.
