Summary
The palatability of thickly sliced Katsuo-namaribushi (smoked-semidried bonito) was evaluated for 120 dogs. Results indicated that 118 (98%) and 119 (99%) of the 120 dogs voluntarily consumed the bonito product, respectively, when it was presented to dogs on each dog’s food bowl and when it was presented to dogs by the hand of their respective guardians. Many guardians were satisfied with the high palatability of the product and took pleasure in feeding this treat to the dog by hand.
