A new record of Carex brunnea (Cyperaceae) from the Maejima Island in Setouchi-shi and its distribution of Okayama Prefecture, Japan

Carex brunnea Thunb. (Cyperaceae) is distributed in Honshu (westward from southern part of Kanto District), Shikoku, Kyushu, and the Nansei Islands in Japan. In Okayama Prefecture, it grows in restricted areas, and only 12 specimens had been collected from this prefecture. In 2023, we found this species from the Maejima Island, which represents the first locality in Setouchi-shi and islands within Okayama Prefecture.
