カナダのDinosaur Park層から産出したCentrosaurus apertusの腓骨病変を、肉眼形態、放射線画像、骨組織の複数の方法で検討した。正常な恐竜骨およびヒトの骨肉腫標本との比較と鑑別診断により、悪性骨腫瘍である骨肉腫と診断した。化石脊椎動物の非典型的な病変には、複数の診断法を組み合わせることが重要であると示した。
