Based on the philosophy that town and building development constitute a form of culture, Okayama Prefecture implemented the CTO (Creative Town Okayama) project between 1991 and 1999, planning and constructing 31 projects. The Okayama Chapter of the Architectural Institute of Japan has established the CTO Archive Project Committee—of which I am a member—to survey, document, preserve, analyze, and evaluate these works; the committee aims to compile a record by the end of March 2027 to pass this legacy on to the next generation, including students.
