Phenothiazine cyclic hexamers: synthesis, properties, and complexation behavior with C60

Phenothiazine cyclic hexamers linked at the 3, 7-positions were synthesized. Effects of the cyclic structure as well as substi tuent effects of the nitrogen atom were disclosed. Furthermore, the cyclic hexamer encapsulated C60 inside the ring in a 1 : 1 ratio giving a Saturn-type complex in solution The structure and interactions were discussed based on DFT calculations
