There are two kinds of sugars in nature: common sugars and rare sugars. Recent days a new enzyme DTE has been discovered and used as an enzyme for converting from the common sugars to the rare ones. The sugar converting strategy called ""Izumoring"" describes all passes among tetroses, pentoses, and hexoses of the common and the rare sugars by using the enzyme DTE. In addition, basic chemical and physical data of the rare sugars are necessary for the mass-producing the rare sugars. Therefore we performed the X-ray structure analysis of several single crystals of rare sugar compounds. In addition, we compare the electronic structures between the common and the rare sugars molecules, in order to clarify the mechanisms of the origin of the natural abundance difference between them.
