It is reported that the wavelength of the emission spectrum of the bromine-bridged binuclear copper(I) complex is changed continuously by changing the kind of the bidentate ligand molecule. The interatomic distances in the analogous complexes are slightly changed by changing the ligand molecule. However, there are no relationship between the structure and the observed value of emission wavelength. Therefore, we investigate the relationship between the observed wavelength of the luminescence and the electronic structure of the binuclear copper(I) complex by DV-Xα method. From the result of the partial-density of states (p-DOS) calculate by the molecule orbital calculation, a good relationship between the energy difference of the copper 3d orbital from the ligand 2p orbital and the observed wavelength of the emission spectrum. In addition, we investigated the relationship among the non luminous complex between the metal and the ligand.
