Fleas were detected on the body surfaces of two house mouse Mus musculus individuals captured in Zushi-shi,
Kanagawa prefecture, Japan in October, 2023. Two fleas were obtained from each mouse. Their locations were on the posterior part of the body in both cases. Based on their morphological features, the fleas were regarded as cat fleas Ctenocephalides felis. Cases of cat flea infection of house mice were thought to be very rare, but wild animals living in or around human habitats might be infested by ectoparasites of rearing animals.
