In the EDD connection admission control scheme, when a connection establishment request occurs, the worst-case link delay of each link along the connection is calculated to determine whether the request can be accepted or not. This paper proposes a high-speed method for calculating the delays in case that the maximum packet length is constant independent of connections. In the method, most of tasks which are needed for the calculation can be performed before a connection establishment request occurs and the rest is only performed after the request occurs. Numerical examples show that the amount of time required for the calculation can he decreased up to about 99 % in comparison to a conventional method.
