This is a report on the lectures given by an active game producer at the Faculty of Information and Engineering, Okayama University of Science, held in 2022 and 2024.
These two lectures were given by Michinori Ozawa, an active game producer at Bandai Namco Studio Inc.
The first lecture was held in 2022, with the theme of "Career theory learned from game production." The content of the lecture was for the game producer to talk about his experiences in game production, and to convey the actual state of the work of creating games, as well as his dreams, rewards, joys, and difficulties, in order to help students think about their own careers. The lectures were aimed at students at our university and high school students at affiliated schools.
The second lecture was held in 2024. The target audience was limited to university students, with the theme of specific advice on job hunting in the game industry. The theme of the lecture was "The mindset of a creator." The lectures covered what students should focus on when looking for a job in the games industry, based on Ozawa's own experiences and those of his own company. Each lecture was followed by an extremely active question and answer session, and it can be said that the content piqued students' interest.
As a result of the lectures, some students decided on a career in the games industry, while others resolved to go on to graduate school to study games in depth, proving that lectures by active industry professionals are useful for helping students decide on their career paths.
