The transfer of column axial force to eccentric piles was investigated through FEM analysis, with variations in foundation slab thickness and eccentricity.
The results confirmed the following:
1. The axial force at the pile head decreases as the foundation slab thickness increases and as the eccentricity increases.
2. The rate of decrease in pile-head axial force due to eccentricity is more gradual when the foundation slab is thicker.
3. The eccentric moment at the pile head is smaller than the value calculated simply as M = Pc × e (where Pc is the column axial force and e is the eccentricity).
