The realization for the necessity of geographically distributed collaborative research is growing in the field of lifescience where scientists analyze a diversity of databases located among multiple sites in a cross-sectoral manner. While the grid technology is a promising solution, its current complexity prevents scientists from forming vitual organizations. One of the significant complicating factors is the physical location of resources. We have developed a grid portal which allows scientists to location-transparently analyze the distributed data with large computational resources aggregated by the grid. In this paper, we describe the architecure and evaluate our grid portal.
