The recent development of augmented reality (AR) has led to its application in a number of different fields. The primary control methods for AR glasses are touchpads and pointers. However, the intricacies of these controls can be challenging to navigate initially and may require a period of adjustment for users. In this study, we devised a user interface (UI) that employs hand tracking via a smartphone equipped with a time-of-flight (ToF) camera. Compared to conventional operation methods, the new UI is more intuitive, and the use of a smartphone makes operation in the AR space more practical. We also worked on the operation of maps on AR as an example of application of the proposed UI to real life. |
